The original Year Seven London Secondary Sportshall Athletics League was created in 2002, with the aim of increasing the number of schoolchildren taking part in athletics in the winter months.
All the competitions have an emphasis on participation, rather than performance and on teams rather than individuals.

Sportshall and England Athletics have worked closely over the past couple of years to enhance the competition and build on the fantastic work happening at the Primary age group by every London Borough in the run up to the annual London Mini Games. This has lead to a format change for the Secondary age group, beginning with the 2007/2008 season, and new resources made available to each of the competing leagues. Eveque have assisted this process with the funding of resources and the also the staging of 5 Sub regional Semi Finals as well as the Final which is provisionally booked for the 24 March 2008 at Brunel University.

The following School Sport Partnerships are hosting leagues this winter (with around 6 schools in each) – and its not too late for more to enter!!!!!!
