The MINI Games is a culmination of interschool competitions at primary school level in each of the boroughs of Greater Manchester. Two festivals cover the ten boroughs and bring together nine sports competitions on one site to create a real sports festival.
Clusters of primary schools run sports competitions the winners of which then go to a borough festival and compete against other cluster competition winners, successful teams then go to the MINI Games.
This years festivals were hosted by Rochdale and Manchester, and despite the most rain on July for many years the smiles stayed on the faces of everyone as they competed.
The sports included are: Sportshall Athletics, Mini Basketball, Girls Football, Gymnastics, High 5 Netball, Mini Hockey, Tag Rugby, Tennis and a competition for young people with disabilities.
These festivals really focus on the young people that take part, rewarding and encouraging their successes. It’s a fantastic day where more lessons can be learnt about winning, losing, playing fair and supporting their friends.
