Fun in Athletics Festivals

November saw the start of the Fun in Athletics season for under 11 teams representing county teams across England.

The popular programme sponsored by Norwich Union and supported by UK Athletics involves all the elements of the fun, adapted Sportshall athletics activities with the young athletes having the opportunity to participate in many events for their teams.

Four events have taken place so far with a great turn out of teams, parents and officials and it was clear how much practice and support the children had had on the run up to the festivals.

Also there was great local support; particularly in the North West were students from Buxton Community School supported the officials in the field events. They arrived in Manchester with the schools’ PDM Lynn Pope and their assistance at the festival was part of their sports apprentice programme.
