The 2011 World Marathon Challenge in Kenya

On 5th October 2011, 50 teams of children across the world competed in a simultaneous marathon distance relay race calling on world leaders to help save children’s lives. Their aim: to beat Patrick Makau’s brand new world record time of 2 hours 3 mins and 28 secs. In Kenya, children drawn from 5 different schools in the Limuru area competed in two teams of 31, and the race was won in a time of 1 hour 51 mns and 52 secs.
